1. Who we are

Turath ("Turath", "we", "us") is a learning platform for Islamic knowledge in Somali, available as a mobile app (Android and iOS) and at turaath.so. Turath is operated by SEETO COMMUNICATION LIMITED, a private limited company registered in Kenya (company number PVT-XYULAE8K), House of Leather, Kilimani Road, Kilimani, Nairobi, Kenya · P.O. Box 1049, G.P.O Nairobi 00100 (seeto.africa).

By creating an account, using the app or website, or buying anything on Turath, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

2. The service

  • Free content: lectures, fatwas, the Qur'an reader, prayer times, the radio and other parts of the app are free to use.
  • Programs: structured courses taught by scholars, with lessons, quizzes and exams, on a published schedule. Some programs are free; others require a one-time enrolment payment.
  • Certificates: a student who meets a program's conditions (for example, passing its final exam) may request a certificate, issued as a PDF in the student's name and downloadable in the app. Some certificates are free; others carry a one-time fee.
  • Books: some programs include books to read inside the app, free or for a one-time fee.

Everything sold on Turath is digital and delivered through the student's Turath account. Nothing is shipped.

3. Accounts and family members

  • You sign in with your phone number (verified by a one-time code) or with Google or Apple. Keep access to your phone and account secure; you are responsible for activity on your account.
  • An account holder may add family members (for example, children) as students under their account. The account holder confirms they are the parent or legal guardian, or otherwise authorised, and is responsible for those members' use of Turath and for payments made for them.
  • The information you give for certificates (such as the student's name) must be true. Certificates are issued exactly as entered.

4. Prices and payment

  • Prices are shown on our pricing page and in the app before you pay. Prices are in US dollars (USD) unless stated otherwise. Applicable taxes may be added at checkout where the law requires.
  • All payments are one-time payments. There are no subscriptions and no automatic renewals.
  • Payment methods include mobile money (such as EVC Plus, Zaad, Sahal and eBirr), bank or money-transfer receipts reviewed by our team, and — where available — card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
  • Card, Apple Pay and Google Pay payments are processed by our online reseller and merchant of record, Creem (creem.io). For those orders Creem handles the payment, applicable taxes and billing receipts, and Creem's own terms also apply to the purchase.
  • A purchase is unlocked as soon as the payment is confirmed (instantly for mobile money and card payments; after our team checks it for receipts). A payment made for a family member unlocks access for that member only.
  • We may change prices for future purchases. A change never affects a payment you have already made.

5. Licence to what you buy

  • Buying a program, certificate or book gives the buyer (or the family member it was bought for) a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access that content inside Turath for as long as Turath offers it. No ownership of the content is transferred.
  • Content may not be copied, recorded, shared, resold or used outside Turath.
  • Books are licensed for reading in the Turath app only. Certificates remain verifiable at turaath.so/verify.
  • Purchases made through Apple's in-app purchase are also subject to Apple's Media Services Terms, and purchases made through Google Play to the Google Play Terms of Service.

6. Refunds

You can request a full refund within 14 days of payment if the purchase has not been used:

  • Program enrolment: the program has not started yet, or you have not sat any of its quizzes or exams.
  • Certificate: the certificate has not yet been issued.
  • Book: the book has not been opened.

Regardless of these conditions, we always refund duplicate or incorrect charges, and payments for anything we fail to deliver (for example, a program we cancel).

To request a refund, email [email protected] with the phone number of your account and the payment reference or date. Refunds go back to the original payment method; card refunds are issued through Creem and usually appear within 5–10 business days, mobile-money refunds within a few business days. When a refund is issued, access to the refunded item ends.

7. Acceptable use

  • Use Turath for personal learning. Do not copy, record, resell, share or publish paid content, books, exams or answers, and do not try to get around access controls or payments.
  • Exams must be taken honestly by the student named on the account. We may withhold or revoke a certificate obtained by cheating or with false information.
  • Do not abuse other users, scholars or our team, and do not misuse the service (for example, automated access or attempts to break security).

8. Content and certificates

Lectures, texts and other content belong to their scholars, authors or to Turath, and are made available to you for personal, non-commercial use within Turath. Certificates can be verified publicly at turaath.so/verify using their serial number.

9. Availability and changes

We work to keep Turath available but cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, add or remove features. If we cancel a paid program before it starts, you will be offered a refund.

10. Suspension and closing your account

You may stop using Turath and ask us to delete your account at any time (request account deletion). We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms. Deleting an account does not by itself create a right to a refund beyond section 6.

11. Liability

Turath is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim relating to a purchase is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer-protection laws that cannot be excluded.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Kenya. We will always try to resolve a problem with you directly first — please contact us.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. The date at the top shows the latest version; significant changes will be announced in the app. Continuing to use Turath after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
